I have never been a great Barbie fan, but that does not mean that I haven't amassed a fairly extravagant collection over the past three decades. I recently was cleaning out some storage area and sorting boxes, and decided to lay out my entire collection. This isn't even all of it, actually, I have quite a bit more.
I have the Victorian dream house and a fold out cottage from the early 1990's era; but I didn't include them since I actually plan to use them for customization projects. I also have a whole suitcase stashed somewhere around here that is full to the brim with dolls and clothing, but that set represents my "played with" collection (I had it as a kid) and most are going to be in fairly rough shape.
But this represents the "cream of the crop" so to speak, as far as my vintage collection goes...I've got the townhouse, the dream boat with Captain Ken, a canopy bed...(missing the canopy but I'm certain it's around here somewhere) and a multitude of outfits ranging from the early '60's, complete with tiny zippers and Barbie label tag; to the 80's. I have a fair amount of home-made Barbie outfits that some caring mom probably sewed painstakingly for her little girl, and some actually rival the store-bought attire.
